Book NowVisit our warm, charming and elegant house, THE PIG-in the Cotswolds, nestled in the honey-hued heart of the English countryside, for an incredibly special private tour with our PIG garden team in the original ornamental gardens designed by renowned British gardener, Rosemary Verey.
You’ll be warmly welcomed, THE PIG way, with a hot drink and freshly baked pastries while you get to know your fellow, green-fingered enthusiasts. Our Head Kitchen Gardener, Ollie Hutson, will then guide you through a private tour of our Kitchen Garden alongside THE PIG-in the Cotswolds’ Head Kitchen Gardener, Andy Moore.
Ollie has been heading up THE PIG Kitchen Gardens since day one and together, he and Andy will share insider stories of how the team carefully created the large market garden style Kitchen Garden here within Rosemary Verey’s house and grounds. You’ll learn how the team took their lead from the surroundings and the history of the land, beside the original arts and crafts style gardens designed by Rosemary herself.
As an exclusive addition, you’ll also get a private tour of Rosemary’s ornamental garden and explore her original creations that embody the true essence of quintessential English beauty – listed archways, potager gardens and a lush Laburnum walkway that you won’t get to experience in our daily Kitchen Garden tours.
You’ll then walk across the grounds to The Temple – a secluded, original regency-style temple, nestled in the peace and quiet of the gardens under a bank of trees, closest to our Fieldhouse, to enjoy a glass of English fizz and plentiful platters of moreish Piggy Bits to graze on. You’re free to explore and roam the gardens and grounds at your own pace and leisure for the rest of the afternoon and while away the day in the heart of the Cotswolds’ countryside – why not make a real afternoon of it, and join us for lunch in our cosy restaurant in the heart of the house?
More about our friends from the National Garden Scheme
Here at THE PIG’s, we are all about giving back to our local community and the patch we call home, so when our friends from The National Garden Scheme wanted to partner up to offer bespoke Kitchen Garden gatherings, we just had to get on board.
The National Garden Scheme is all about giving the local community unique access to over 3,500 exceptional private gardens in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, to raise money for charities and organisations. In addition, they open breath taking gardens to support everyone’s physical and mental health – spending some time outdoors in the midst of our produce always makes us feel better that’s for sure!
Through admission fees, plus the many teas and cakes they sell, they raise impressive amounts of money for nursing and health charities. So far, they have managed to donate over £67million and in 2022, they made an annual donation of £3.11million. Some of their core charities and organisation include Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK and The Queen’s Nursing Institute.
